Learning Objectives

You should always try to learn from each case and patient.  However, to assure that you have the tools needed for your future practice you should at least make sure you have competence in the areas by the years listed (at the latest):

 

UNDERSTAND DIAGNOSIS & MANAGEMENT OF:

 

 

1. Femur Fractures at each age category

  • 0-5
  • 6-10
  • 11+

2. Treatment of Tibia, Ankle, Humerus, and Forearm Fractures

3. Angular & Torsional Disorders

4. Clubfoot, MTA, Planovalgus Foot

5. Measurement of Spinal Disorders

6. SCFE

 

READING:

 

 

1. Must have read Entire Pediatric Fracture Text

2. Must have read at least Half of Lovell & Winter

 

MOTOR SKILLS:

 

 

1. Cast Application for Clubfoot (do at least 2)

2. Spica Cast for Femur Fracture (do at least 2)

3. External Fixator for Fracture of Tibia and/or Femur

4. Tendon Lengthening for Ankle/Foot Deformity

5. Adductor, Hamstring Tendon Lengthening

6. Obtain Iliac Crest Bone Graft
